Giuseppe Bellia - Italian self-taught painter, known artistically as Beddru embraces experimentation with non-traditional materials, such as thick, superposed Plexiglas panels. He describes his figurative subjects as 'unconformably” represented through ink-based mixed media, which are applied via reverse painting technique.

The Royal Opera Arcade Gallery is bringing a collection of works of Beddru including different techniques, from drawing and watercolour, to painting on canvas and plexiglass. Colour is central to convey his visual and at times controversial message. His vibrant chromatic effects are the result of a deep 'osmotic” relationship with the pigments he uses to paint.

"Why did I paint it? What is my inner part trying to tell me?Upon reflection I always find an answer that is essentially linked to my past about things that stayed there unsolved and that now that I have expressed them feel like "solved".Art becomes therapeutic and every time I unknot a knot I feel freer."
