Schedule

5pm: Ibrahim Ahmed exhibition launch at Primary (33 Seely Road)
6pm: John Akomfrah talk at NAE
7pm - 9pm: Exhibition launch celebration at NAE

Celebrate the autumn season with a first look at four new exhibitions. Join us to experience these important shows, to find out more about events over the coming months and receive a free drink on arrival.

From 5pm at Primary (33 Seely Road) see Ibrahim Ahmed's installation Does Anybody Leave Heaven?

Complimentary taxis are available from Primary to NAE for those who have booked for John Akomfrah's talk at NAE starting at 6pm. Reserve your free tickets early to guarantee your place at this talk to hear more about Mimesis: African Solider and Akomfrah's wider practice.

After the talk, the launch celebrations continue in NAE's galleries and CaféBar. Opening at NAE alongside Akomfrah's Mimesis multimedia film installation in the Main Gallery, we launch When the Snow Melts (Mezzanine Gallery) and Beyond Diagnosis (Central Gallery).

When The Snow Melts is part of the Muslim Memory project, charting the stories of Nottingham's Muslim communities involved in the Second World War. This thought-provoking show draws from the personal histories of local Muslim families, and archival material to pose questions about the process of war memorialisation, empire and its interconnections.
