An exhibition of paintings, drawings, prints and collages by Judith Brenner

“Her recent work is abstract and uses mixed media, drawing on an intense exploration of her emotions and reactions to places, memories and events. This seems to be a very personal and private experience…”

Sylvie Gomenzano, advisor, curator and Chair of the AWAD

Judith Brenner’s work uses the notion of alchemy, a magical process of transformation, creation, or combination responding visually to her environment and life experiences. Her paintings are concerned with translating the power of her surroundings through a transmutation of material through process. Each piece is a place of contemplation for the artist. Sensuous, gestural marks give the medium freedom to evolve and, in the process mirror the ebb and flow of the dynamic landscape.

“My paintings evolve and shift as I have limited control over the chemical reaction that occurs. The changes are subtle, not monumental but my reaction to them in paint is what determines the outcome. I have learnt from collaborating with a number of my contemporaries in both London and Cornwall, new processes combining pigments and metals and continue to search for new experimental ways to create challenging surfaces.” Judith Brenner
