Erskine, Hall & Coe are delighted to present our first online only exhibition, Tea Bowls by 9 Artists, consisting of tea bowls by Japanese, American, European and British artists dating from the 1960s to the present day.  The exhibition will be viewable on our website from the 15th of April.

We are particularly excited to exhibit a tea bowl we recently acquired by Japanese legend Ryūichi Kakurezaki.  A beautiful summer tea bowl by Shiro Tsujimura, included within his solo show at Galerie Besson in 1994, is shown alongside a selection of those by Ewen Henderson which possess a unique volcanic quality.

Among our favourite additions are two beautifully glazed bowls by Kenji Hara, both Kiseto Dohimo chawans.  Kiseto refers to their unusual pale yellow hue, and chawan indicates that they are intended for a Japanese tea ceremony.

These artworks are introduced with bowls by Ruth Duckworth, Sara Flynn, Yasuhisa Kohyama, Ryoji Koie and Shozo Michikawa.

We hope you enjoy your virtual visit to our exhibition whilst our physical gallery space remains temporarily closed, due to the concern surrounding Covid-19.  We look forward to answering any questions you may have about the artworks.  Please contact us at [email protected] for further details.
