An exhibition by Pete Swann and Kathryn Maris, curated by Michelle Klein.

The House with Only an Attic and a Basement brings together the work of two artists, painter and sculptor Pete Swann and poet Kathryn Maris, in an exhibition exploring often unspoken and uncomfortable aspects of the human psyche.

The show will include an installation of painted relief portraits by Swann in response to Maris’ cycle of poems, The House of Atreus - darkly comic glimpses of a privileged, dysfunctional family over several decades. Both artists will also exhibit new work created during the coronavirus lockdown period.

Pete Swann is an accomplished painter, industrial designer and craftsman. Pete studied Engineering Product Design at Southbank University and is the chairman of the Richmond Art Society.

Kathryn Maris is a poet, critic and curator based in London. Her ‘House of Atreus’ sequence of poetry won the Ivan Juritz Prize for creative experiment.

Includes Artists’ Talk: Saturday 19th September 2.00pm or 3.00pm – booking with the gallery essential.
