Daniel Raphael Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition, 'Less is More', featuring emerging artists from England, Italy, France and the Czech Republic. Over 60 small works of art will be on display including several themes such as surrealism, landscape painting and geometric abstraction.

The intention of the exhibition 'Less is More' makes reference to a custom that started during the Renaissance era in the fifteenth century, when wealthy collectors of art started assembling small paintings in a cabinet or originally called 'studiolo' (Italian for study room). Cabinets were private rooms where the collectors invited their important visitors and friends. Precious objects, including miniature paintings, old master prints, books, sculptures and curiosities of all sorts were displayed similar to a small-scale museum collection. Less is More alludes to this tradition whilst also taking into account the modern day trend of a small painting being the ideal domestic piece of art.
