SYMBOLS OF HUMANITY

by George Baylouni

17th Oct. - 17 Nov. 2019

Celebrating the first anniversary since its successful inauguration in October of last year, the Stories Art Gallery is welcoming a stunning new exhibition on its elegant premises in Mayfair, London on 17th October 2019.

Symbols of Humanity is a unique collection of artworks by Syrian-French artist George Baylouni. The one-of-a-kind pieces are inspired by the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, the Middle East, and beyond. The Aleppo born and raised artist unearths these cultures and fuses their symbolisms together in his works.

A master of both drawing and sculpting techniques, that were acquired in Aleppo, a place as old as history itself, Baylouni instills in his pieces a sense of age-old antiquity. His pieces are like old artefacts that remind of us of our roots.

In his very sentimental and eloquent introduction to Baylouni's 2016 exhibition in France, Memory of Land, Paul Veyssire, an international expert in ancient manuscripts and books commented that, “George Baylouni knows that the Memory of Land, like Borges’s The Book of Sand has neither a beginning nor an end. His works of art are something else.”
